SOUTH BOSTON, VA (August 19, 2024) – For the first time in 12 years INEX Legend Cars will be racing at South Boston Speedway.

South Boston Speedway officials have added an INEX U.S. Legend Car race to the Autos by Nelson 280 zMAX Cars Tour event set for Saturday night, September 14. Keelan Harvick, the 12-year-old son of NASCAR Cup Series Champion Kevin Harvick, and a number of the region’s top INEX U.S. Legend Car competitors will compete in the 30-lap INEX Legend Car race that will mark the first INEX U.S. Legend Car race at the speedway since 2012.

With the addition of the INEX U.S. Legend Car race, the Autos by Nelson 280 event will feature a 125-lap race for the zMAX CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour, a 100-lap race for the zMAX CARS Pro Late Model Tour, a 30-lap race for the INEX Legend Car Series, and a 25-lap race for the competitors of the Virginia Mini Cup Racing Association. The first race of the night will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

“I’ve gotten some laps on iRacing, and it seems like a fun track to race on,” Keelan Harvick said. “I’m looking forward to racing on a new track, especially since my dad and grandfather have both raced there.”

The Autos by Nelson 280 event will mark the first INEX-sanctioned Legend Car race at South Boston Speedway since 2012.

“This INEX Legend Car race is a great addition to our annual zMAX CARS Tour event and is the perfect complement to the zMAX CARS Tour Late Models,” said South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “We jumped at the chance to bring the Legend Cars here and add them to our event lineup when we were presented the opportunity. The Legend Car race should be a fantastic race, and we are very much looking forward to hosting them here at South Boston Speedway.”

For those not familiar with Legend Cars, they are a 5/8-scale version of the NASCAR Modifieds driven and made famous by NASCAR legends such as Fireball Roberts, Curtis Turner and Buck Baker and are manufactured by Harrisburg, North Carolina-based U.S. Legend Cars International.

Inside a single INEX Legend Car race there could be drivers from four different divisions competing. The divisions include Pro, Semi-Pro (age 16 and older), Masters (40-years-old and up) and Young Lions (10-15 years-old).

Advance tickets for the Autos by Nelson 280 event are priced at $17 each. Advance tickets may be purchased online on South Boston Speedway’s website, www.southbostonspeedway.com or by calling the speedway office at 434-572-4947 or toll free at 1-877-440-1540 during regular business hours.

Tickets at the gate on race day will be $20 each. Seniors ages 65 and older, military, healthcare workers, and students (with ID) can purchase tickets for $17 each at the gate on race day.

The event schedule will be announced at a later date.
