SOUTH BOSTON, VA (August 8, 2024) – Jason Myers has won two of South Boston Speedway’s longest and richest Limited Sportsman Division races during his racing career. The Hurt, Virginia resident is hoping to add another major win in the 50-lap Kenny Meadows Limited Sportsman Memorial Feature Race that will headline the Sentara Health Race Night partnering with God’s Pit Crew event on Saturday night, August 17 at South Boston Speedway.

A $3,000 winner’s prize, the biggest winner’s prize ever awarded for a Limited Sportsman Division race at South Boston Speedway, and the largest purse of the season for South Boston Speedway’s Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division, will be on the line in the 50-lap race that honors the late Kenny Meadows who passed away December 7, 2021 at age 56 due to COVID-19. Meadows was a life-long racing enthusiast who was crew chief for his son’s racing efforts and helped other teams throughout the years as well.

“It’s a huge race,” Myers pointed out. “It would be the biggest win of my career as far as money won is concerned. I’ve won the two biggest Limited Sportsman races they’ve had at South Boston Speedway. I’d love to make it three-for-three.”

Myers likes the idea of having a big-money race such as this for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division.

“Eric (fellow racer Eric Winslow) came up with the idea at one of the driver meetings, and I thought it was brilliant,” Myers said. “It’s a huge amount of money for a Limited Sportsman race, and it’s only 50 laps. You won’t have to wear your equipment out, and it pays really well throughout the field. There are cool prizes for the pole and other things through the field.

“I’m sure that race will bring out a bigger crowd of fans and cars,” Myers continued. “You always want to do well in front of your home fans. Hopefully it will attract a lot of cars and some heavy hitters from other tracks. I’d love for some big names from outside to come in and we can show them how the boys from South Boston do it.”

While Myers likes the thought of competing in the richest Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division race of the season at South Boston Speedway, there is a lot at stake for the defending division champion.

Only two races remain for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division in South Boston Speedway’s points season and Myers is in a close battle for the division championship. Myers leads Eric Winslow of Pelham, North Carolina by a narrow four-point margin heading into the event with Nathan Crews of Long Island, Virginia in third place 18 points behind Myers.

That being noted, the defending South Boston Speedway Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division champion said he will be fully prepared for the race.

“We’re going to hit that week really hard,” he pointed out. “Obviously you don’t want to have a bad night because it will just compound itself with so many cars here. I’m sure we’ll come down and test, get our heads together, and make the car better. Hopefully we can come out here with a victory, or at least a Top-3 finish.”

The 50-lap Kenny Meadows Limited Sportsman Memorial Feature Race for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division headlines the six-race card that will comprise the Saturday, August 17 Sentara Health Race Night partnering with God’s Pit Crew event.

Along with that race there will be twin 75-lap races for the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division, a 25-lap race for the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division, a 20-lap race for the Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division and a 25-lap race for the Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club.
