“It’s a complete honor,” Debra Meadows, widow of the late Kenny Meadows, said of having a second annual event at South Boston Speedway. “It’s just so heartfelt to realize that so many people thought so much of Kenneth to continue this as a yearly event. Kenneth was a special person, and racing was his favorite hobby. For him to be able to be a part of it for as long as he was, he lived his childhoods dream over and over. It’s an honor for me and honor for my family and friends to see this race return.”
“We were proud to honor Kenny Meadows last year with a huge Limited Sportsman race,” remarked South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “It was an incredible show and drew a huge field of cars. We wanted to bring that excitement back again this season, and we’re so very proud to work with the Meadows Family once again and kick off our Budweiser Limited Sportsman season in style. Thank you to all of the incredible partners that came on board to make this happen. We certainly appreciate all of them, and we know our racers do, too.”
The race honors the late Kenny Meadows who passed away December 7, 2021, at age 56 due to COVID-19. Meadows was a life-long racing enthusiast. He was crew chief for his son, Calvin Meadows,’ racing efforts and helped many other teams throughout the years as well. Kenny Meadows was involved in racing for 14 years.
Nathan Crews of Long Island, Virginia enters the Second Annual Kenny Meadows Limited Sportsman Memorial Feature as the defending race champion. Crews led 35 laps in last year’s 50-lap race.
“That’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest win of my racing career,” Crews noted. “I’m really looking forward to racing in it again. Hopefully we will have a strong enough car that we will have a shot at winning it. If I can win only one race this season, this is the one I would want to win.”

Crews appreciates everyone involved in making the event possible for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division competitors.
“I appreciate the Meadows Family, all of the sponsors, and everybody involved for coming together and putting on this race,” Crews said. “It’s special for all of us. Most of us race on a tight budget, trying to have fun and enjoy racing. It’s nice that they are putting the spotlight on us for this race. It gives everybody in the Limited Sportsman class something to look forward to. It’s really a great opportunity for everybody in our class to race in that race.”
