Fans Will Be Admitted Free To South Boston Speedway’s Open Test Day On March 17

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (March 8, 2018) – The season-opening Danville Toyota Twin 100s on March 24 is one of the biggest races of the year at South Boston Speedway and after a long winter’s rest, teams want to make sure they are up to speed.

To help with that goal, the track will be hosting its annual preseason open test for all divisions for a full day on Saturday, March 17. The grandstands will be open to fans from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at no charge.

And while there are no trophies or points on the line, it is a vitally important day for all the teams.

“That open test day means a whole lot to all of the teams,” said Peyton Sellers, who is the defending South Boston Late Model Stock track champion and is gunning for a fourth title in 2018. “It’s been a long off season. Most of these guys haven’t raced since late September.

“It’s time for all of us to get back in the cars and get serious about racing again. The test day is the perfect way to do it … to knock some rust off and start getting things dialed in.”

Registration and pit gates open at 9 a.m. for the March 17 practice session with cars on track from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

South Boston Speedway’s season-opener on March 24 will feature twin 100-lap Late Model Stock races, a 50-lap Limited Sportsman Division race, a 30-lap Budweiser Pure Stock race and a 15-lap Budweiser Hornets race.

Tickets are $10 for adults and children 12 and under are free.
