Mom’s Night Out on tap Saturday at South Boston Speedway

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway will return to racing action Saturday night, May 10 when it will host the NASCAR Late Model 100 program.

The event is also being billed as Mom’s Night Out in celebration of Mother’s Day Weekend. The admission price for all moms on Saturday night will be $5.

Four action-packed races are scheduled as part of the NASCAR Late Model 100 program. The first event of the evening will crank up at 7 p.m.

Highlighting the racing action will be a 100-lap battle for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

Peyton Sellers, a three-time winner this season, currently sits in first place in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division standings. Sellers, a former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion, is seven points ahead of former South Boston Speedway champion Matt Bowling.

Bobby McCarty is third in the standings. He is only one point ahead of one-time winner Austin Thaxton, who owns the fourth-place spot. Fellow one-time winner Josh Oakley is fifth in the standings. He is 10 points behind Thaxton.

Also scheduled as part of the NASCAR Late Model 100 racing program are events for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Hornets Division.

Two-time winner Trey Crews has opened an 18-point cushion in the chase for the Limited Sportsman Division championship. Daryn Cockram is second in the standings. He leads Daryl Carver by six points.

Sitting just two points behind Carver in fourth place is Tommy Peregoy, while defending division champion is in fifth place. Willis, who owns one victory this season, is only three points behind Peregoy.

Greg Autry has motored to three victories in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division this season and he owns a sizable cushion over a second-place tie between Johnny Layne and Bruce Mayo.

Kevin Currin is in first place in the Hornets Division. He owns a five-point lead over Austin Milam.

Pit gates will open on Saturday at 2 p.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Qualifying time trials will roll off at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open 5 p.m.

Admission will be $10 for adults. Children, ages six and under, will be admitted free with a paid adult. Season tickets, priced at only $150, currently remain on sale and can be purchased at the speedway office.
