Division track champions for the 2013 season recently crowned at South Boston Speedway
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway crowned its 2013 NASCAR Whelen All American Series division track champions earlier this month during the GCR presents Spaulding Equipment NASCAR Championship Night Late Model 150 racing program.
Lee Pulliam, the winner of 16 events at America’s Hometown Track this season, claimed the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car crown at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval and, in the process, also secured the NASCAR Whelen All American Series national championship, his second consecutive national title.
Austin Thaxton placed second in the Late Model Stock Car Division ranks at South Boston Speedway, edging third-place Bobby McCarty by four points for the position. Bruce Anderson and Ronald Hill rounded out the top five in the division’s title chase.
Danny Willis Jr. improved from a runner-up finish in the Limited Sportsman Division in 2012 to claim the division crown this season.
Garrett Bunch was second in the title chase after nipping third-place Michael Maresca by one point. Blake Stalling was fourth in the standings, and only trailed Maresca by five points, while Tommy Peregoy round out the top five.
Joe Allred secured the championship in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division, one season after finishing in the runner-up position in the title chase.
Stuart Crews was second in the division’s championship chase. He was 18 points behind Crews. Austin Milam placed third in the standings and was followed in the top five by Randy Hupp in fourth place and Bruce Mayo in the fifth position.
Tanner Rumberg claimed the Modified Division crown by six points over second-place Jimmy Humblet and by eight points over third-place Chris Johnson.
South Boston Speedway officials announced this week that work on the 2014 schedule was underway and that dates for the upcoming campaign would be released soon.
