The thunder of Monster Truck Madness will roar to life Saturday at South Boston Speedway

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The thunder of Monster Truck Madness is coming to America’s Hometown Track on Saturday, Sept. 21.

South Boston Speedway is combining a host of fan favorites together Saturday night with a Monster Truck Show and Fireworks Extravaganza.

The Monster Truck Show will get cranked up at 7 p.m. and will feature the legendary Big Foot, Black Stallion, Higher Education, Iron Warrior and War Wizard.

In addition to the Monster Truck show, the night of action at South Boston Speedway will also feature the Kamikaze and Psycho jet four-wheelers and FMX motorcycles, along with a Fireworks Extravaganza at the close of the evening.

Advance tickets for the event are on sale and priced at $15 for adults. Tickets for children, ages 12 and under, are priced at $5.

Fans of all ages can also purchase a $5 pit pass, which will enable them to get up close to the trucks and the drivers on the track and also receive a Monster Truck ride.

Grandstand gates will open at 1 p.m. Saturday, and Pit Party beginning at 1:30 pm.

The rain date for the event is Sunday, Sept. 22.

Big Foot, a 2004 Ford Super Duty, stands 10-feet tall, weighs 10,000 pounds, and features a 572 CI Ford-blown, alcohol-injected engine and eight nitrogen-charged custom designed shocks.

Black Stallion, a 2008 Ford F-150, stands 11-feet tall and weighs 10,000 pounds. Black Stallion was the first truck to successfully jump another monster truck in reverse, setting a world-record distance of 70 feet in 2002. It was also the first truck to successfully jump another truck going forward in 1999.

Higher Education is a concept flat-nose school bus. It stands 11 feet tall and weighs 10,000 pounds. It features a four-link suspension with custom-built sway bars.

Iron Warrior, a 2003 Ford Ranger stands 11-feet tall and weighs 10,000 pounds, and War Wizard, also stands 10 feet tall and weighs 10,000 pounds.

When the FMX motorcycles take center stage Saturday, fans will be able to watch Mikey Vaters II. He started riding motorcycles at the age of four and in 2004 at the age of 16 he turned pro and continues to raise the bar as he masters more difficult tricks jumping 50 to 65-foot gaps.

The Kamikaze and Psycho jet four-wheelers boast powerful 1,500-horsepower jet engines that impress crowds with thrust and burner pops. The jet engines shoot out flames over 25 feet as they speed by spectators.
