Peters has raced in a pair of NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division races at America’s Hometown Track thus far this season and has scored a victory and a third-place finish.
“We’re going to give it a try,” Peters said. “I just love getting some seat time in the Late Model. That’s where I came from. It’s cool to go back there and race with some of the guys I used to race with. It’s always good to go back to your roots.”
Peters said he knows he will be facing a tough challenge July 3 at South Boston Speedway. Among the top names who will also be competing for the victory are defending NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam, and former national title winners Philip Morris and Peyton Sellers.
Morris is a multi-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion and Pulliam owns the top spot in the chase for the 2013 national title.
“It will be tough, that’s for sure,” Peters said. “We’ve been very lucky and fortunate this year to go to South Boston a couple of times and get a first and a third.”
Peters said he is grateful to his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series owners and crew at Red Horse Racing for allowing him the chance to gain the extra seat time in the Late Model Stock Car Division.
Peters also added that he was grateful to Barry Nelson and Autos by Nelson, along with Steve and Blake Stallings for their support of his Late Model Stock Car Division efforts.
“We’ve got a lot of great people who help make this possible,” Peters said. “They’re all a big help.”
