PASS Super Late Models, NASCAR Whelen All American Late Models in action Saturday at SoBo

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — America’s Hometown Track will feature a monstrous slate of racing action to kick off the Mother’s Day Weekend.

South Boston Speedway will return to action Saturday, May 11, with the running of the PASS Super Late Model 150 racing program.

The four-race event, which will get cranked up at 7 p.m., will feature the touring high-powered cars and stars of the PASS Super Late Model Series in a 150-lap shootout as well as twin 75-lap races for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

Also scheduled as part of Saturday night’s racing action will be an event for the touring Legends Cars.

Prior to green flag racing action at 7 p.m., a Fan Appreciation Session will be held trackside from 5:45 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. to enable fans to visit with their favorite competitors.

Among the competitors whop have filled out entry forms for Saturday’s PASS Super Late Model event are Durham, N.C. drivers Jay Fogleman and Tate Fogleman, Kyle Grissom, Ross Kenseth, Spencer Davis, Trevor Noles, Brandon Ward, and Tim Pinion.

When the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division drivers hit the historic four-tenths mile asphalt for their two 75-lap events, the chase for the 2013 South Boston Speedway championship will continue.

Defending NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam currently leads the standings, but is coming off a 12th-place finish following a crash last weekend.

Pulliam, who has reeled off five wins and two runner-up finishes thus far this season, is 61 points ahead of second-place Bobby McCarty.

Former multi-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Philip Morris is third in the standings. He trails McCarty by eight points, and is 12 points ahead of Dustin Storm. C.E. Falk rounds out the top five in the standings.

Grandstand gates will open Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying time trials will also begin at 4:30 p.m. Practice for the competing divisions will be held Saturday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Advance tickets for Saturday’s PASS Super Late Model 150 racing program are currently on sale and priced at just $10 each for adults. Advance tickets can be purchased at the South Boston Speedway office through 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10. Adult admission on Saturday will be $15. Children, ages six and under, will be admitted free with a paid adult.
