South Boston Speedway to host NASCAR Whelen Late Model 150 on Saturday, March 23

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The first week of the 2013 South Boston Speedway was filled with action, and the excitement will return to America’s Hometown Track on Saturday, March 23.

South Boston Speedway will host the NASCAR Whelen Late Model 150 racing program on Saturday, March 23. That event will also feature an afternoon starting time of 2 p.m.

The featured attraction of the day on March 23 will be a 150-lap race for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

In season-opening twin 100-lap races on March 9, defending NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam and C.E. Falk each scored victories and assumed the top two positions in the early-season battle for the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division title at South Boston Speedway.

Also featured as part of the four-race program on March 23 will be events for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Modified Division.

Danny Willis Jr. won the opening Limited Sportsman Division race of the season on March 9, edging Joey Throckmorton for the triumph.

Joe Allred III was the winner of the season-opening Budweiser Pure Stock Division event, while Randy Hupp motored to a runner-up finish.

The March 23 event will mark the first of the season at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval for the Modified Division.

Pit gates will open Saturday, March 23 at 8 a.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

Grandstand gates will open Saturday, March 23 at noon and a mandatory drivers’ meeting is scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m.

Qualifying time trials to set the starting grids for the day of racing will roll off at 12:45 p.m.

Admission will be $10 for adults and children under the age of six will be admitted free with a paid adult.
