IT’S TIME: South Boston Speedway’s annual Open Practice and Media Day scheduled Saturday
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Ready or not, it’s time to make the final preparations for the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All American Series season at South Boston Speedway.
The season-opening event for the 2013 campaign is just over a week away on Saturday, March 9. The annual Open Practice and Media Day at the famed four-tenths mils asphalt oval is scheduled for this weekend.
The Open Practice and Media Day will be held on Saturday, March 2, beginning at 9 a.m.
There might be a chill in the air Saturday at America’s Hometown Track, but the advanced National Weather Service forecast is calling for partly sunny skies with a high in the mid 40s.
The open practice session is open to the public. There will be no admission charged to view the action from the grandstand area.
Pit registration will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. Practice sessions will be held from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on March 2.
A lunch break will be held from noon until 1 p.m. And, during that time, a meeting for drivers and crew chiefs will be held at 12:30 p.m.
The season-opening event at America’s Hometown Track is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 when the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval will host the Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100’s racing program.
The season-opening event will also feature action for the Limited Sportsman Division and the Pure Stock Division. The first three NASCAR Whelen All American Series events of the 2013 campaign at America’s Hometown Track will feature afternoon starts.
South Boston Speedway is once again offering season tickets for the upcoming season. Season tickets are priced at only $150 and are good for all 18 of the action-packed events slated in the upcoming season.
