PASS Series, NASCAR Whelen Late Models highlight racing action at SoBo on June 9
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The PASS Super Late Model Series and the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division will share the spotlight Saturday night, June 9 when racing action returns to South Boston Speedway.
The PASS Super Late Models will compete in a 150-lap race Saturday night at America’s Hometown Track, while the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will battle it out in a pair of 75-lap races.
Also featured, as part of the evening will be a race for the MAD (Modified Affordable Division) Modifieds.
The first race of the night will get cranked up at 7 p.m.
Former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Peyton Sellers, who also owns a South Boston Speedway championship, will bring a two-race win streak into Saturday night’s twin 75-lap races.
Sellers’ two victories two weeks ago enabled him to close within five points of current division points leader Matthew Bowling, who has one win for the season.
Kyle Grissom, a two-time winner this season, currently leads the PASS Super Late Model South Division standings. Brandon Ward, who has one victory for the season, follows Grissom in second place. One-time winner Ross Kenseth, son of 2012 Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth, is third in the standings and is followed in the fourth position by Jay Fogleman.
The PASS Super Late Model Series is also scheduled to visit South Boston Speedway again this season on Aug. 18.
Advance tickets for the Saturday’s event are currently on sale and priced at $10 each. Advance tickets can be purchased through 5 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the speedway office.
Tickets on race day will be priced at $15 each. Youth will be admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult. Children 6 and under are free with a paying adult.
Practice will be held from 2 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Qualifying time trials will get cranked up at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed at 5:45 p.m. by a Fan Appreciation Session trackside.
