Mom's Night Out slated as part of CenturyLink presents Bojangles Late Model 150 Saturday at SoBo

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Racing action will return to America's Hometown Track for the second straight weekend on Saturday, May 12 as the engines will roar to life for the running of the CenturyLink presents Bojangles Night Late Model 150 racing program.

The racing action will get cranked up at 7 p.m. on the eve of Mother's Day and South Boston Speedway will honor all mothers in attendance with a special discounted admission price of only $5.

Five races are scheduled as part of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing program with the featured attraction being a 150-lap shootout for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

The Limited Sportsman Division drivers will also be in action Saturday and the competitors in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division will be featured in a pair of twin races. Rounding out the racing program will be an event for the touring Legendary Ford Flatheads Racing Association.

When the highly competitive NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division competitors take to the track Saturday night, a host of drivers will be battling for their second victory of the 2012 campaign.

In the opening four point races of the season, four different drivers have visited Victory Lane. They include current points leader Matthew Bowling, Deac McCaskill, who is third in the title chase, Darrell Gilchrist, who sits fourth in the point standings and Lee Pulliam.

Former South Boston Speedway and NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Peyton Sellers, who is currently second in the 2012 championship chase, will also be in the field and will be bidding for his first victory of the campaign.

The battle for the Limited Sportsman Division championship between Danny Willis Jr. and Bobby McCarty will continue Saturday night. Willis, on the strength of a pair of wins last weekend, sits in the first in the standings. McCarty, who was second in twin races last weekend, is only seven points out of the lead heading into this weekend's event.

Joe Allred III is the leader in the chase for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division. Courtney Crosby owns the second-place position and is six points ahead of a third-place tie between Stuart Crews and Trey Crews.

Pit registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. on May 12. Practice for all divisions will be held from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and admission will be $10 for adults and children six and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.
