SoBo's Easter Bunny Late Model 150 will highlight holiday weekend Saturday

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Prior to making his rounds late Saturday night, the Easter Bunny will hop by South Boston Speedway Saturday for the first nighttime racing action of the campaign at the famed four-tenths mile asphalt oval.

America's Hometown Track will roar into action under the lights Saturday, April 7 with the running of the Easter Bunny 150 Late Model 150 NASAR Whelen All-American Series program.

The first of six races scheduled Saturday night will get cranked up at 7 p.m., but prior to the action on the asphalt, children in attendance will be able to meet with the Easter Bunny and take part in an Easter Egg Hunt at 6 p.m.

The featured event of the evening will be a 150-lap battle for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car Division.

The Limited Sportsman Division will also be in action Saturday and twin races are also scheduled for the competitors in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the touring MAD Modifieds.

Saturday's event will be the second of the 2012 campaign for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car Division. The Limited Sportsman Division and Budweiser Pure Stock Division will be battling in their first events of the campaign.

Saturday event for the Modified Affordable Division (MAD) will be the first of five scheduled for the division in 2012.

The MAD Division features high-powered, lightweight racecars. Combined with an economical, reusable race tire, the MAD Division is designed to provide a maximum of speed and excitement with a minimal operating budget.

In addition to Saturday, the MAD Modifieds are scheduled to compete at South Boston Speedway on May 5, May 26, June 9 and July 21.

Pit registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Practice for all divisions will be held from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and admission will be $10 for adults and children under the age of six will be admitted free with a paid adult.
