SoBo will hop into racing under the lights with Easter Bunny Late Model 150 on Saturday, April 7
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway will flip the switch on nighttime racing when it returns to action on Saturday, April 7 for the running of the Easter Bunny Late Model 150 NASCAR Whelen All American Series program.
The first of six action-packed races on April 7 will get the green flag at 7 p.m.
As an added bonus, the Easter Bunny will hop by America's Hometown Track on the eve of Easter to participate in a Easter Egg Hunt at 6:00 p.m. with youth prior to the night of racing.
The featured race of the evening will be a 150-lap battle for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.
The Limited Sportsman Division will also be in action on April 7 and the night will also feature twin shootouts for the competitors in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the touring MAD Modifieds.
The April 7 event will be the second of the 2012 campaign for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. The Limited Sportsman Division and Budweiser Pure Stock Division will be battling in their first events of the season.
On March 10, C.E. Falk won the NASCAR Whelen Late Model 300 presented by Danville Toyota at America's Hometown Track and was followed in the top five by Nick Smith, Eddie Johnson, Matthew Bowling and Dennis Holdren.
The April 7 appearance at South Boston Speedway by the Modified Affordable Division (MAD) will be the first of five scheduled for the division in 2012.
The MAD Division features high-powered, lightweight racecars. Their loud engines, open wheels and radical bodywork compliment their performance. Combined with an economical, reusable race tire, the MAD Division is designed to provide a maximum of speed and excitement with a minimal operating budget that nearly any existing race team can afford to operate.
In addition to April 7, the MAD Modifieds are scheduled to compete at South Boston Speedway on May 5, May 26, June 9 and July 21.
Pit registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. on April 7. Practice for all divisions will be held from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and admission will be $10 for adults and children under the age of six will be admitted free with a paid adult.
