Danville Toyota Late Model 300 will close another banner season at South Boston Speedway on Saturday

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Another banner campaign at America's Hometown Track will come to a close this weekend with the running of the highly anticipated Danville Toyota Late Model 300 on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The green flag will wave for the start of the Danville Toyota Late Model 300 at 3 p.m. on Saturday and the best NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division will be on hand to contend for the $10,000 prize that will be awarded to the winner.

Advance tickets for the Danville Toyota Late Model 300 remain on sale and priced at $15. Advance tickets can be purchased through Friday, Oct. 21. Adult tickets on race day will be priced at $20. Youth, ages 7-12, will be admitted for $10 with a paying adult and children, ages 6 and under, will be admitted free with a paying adult.

Philip Morris, the 2011 NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion, will be bidding for his 20th triumph of the season on the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval Saturday in the Danville Toyota Late Model 300.

Morris reeled off a track record 19 victories in 2011 at America's Hometown Track on the way to securing the track championship and the national crown.

Lee Pulliam, who placed third in the national title chase and second to Morris in the NASCAR Whelen All American Virginia state championship standings, will be in the field bidding for the $10,000 prize Saturday. Pulliam is fresh off a Late Model Stock Car triumph at Martinsville Speedway two weeks ago.

Over 40 top contenders are expected for the Danville Toyota Late Model 300 on Saturday as drivers continue to register to compete.

Action will get underway in preparation Danville Toyota Late Model 300 on Friday, Oct. 21 when practice and qualifying time trial sessions will be held. Practice will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get cranked up at 4 p.m. The top 15 positions in the Danville Toyota Late Model 300 will be set in qualifying.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, qualifying heat races will decide the final drivers in the field for the Danville Toyota Late Model 300 and the green flag will wave for the 300-lap event at 3 p.m. on Oct. 22. The 25-lap qualifying heat races will get underway at 12 p.m.

The rain date for the Danville Toyota Late Model 300 will be Sunday, Oct. 23.
