SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — If you are looking for fun, excitement and great racing action, the FindItHere.com NASCAR Late Model 200 at South Boston Speedway on Friday, July 1 is the answer to your search.
South Boston Speedway will return to racing action on Friday, July 1 for the running of some of the best NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing action of the season. The night of racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a Fan Appreciation Session trackside.
Three big money races are planned as part of the FindItHere.com NASCAR Whelen Late Model 200. The featured attraction of the night will be a 200-lap shootout for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. The winner of the 200-lap event will receive $5,000.
Also scheduled as part of the FindItHere.com NASCAR Whelen Late Model 200 is a 100-lap race for the Limited Sportsman Division and a 50-lap event for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.
At the close of the evening, the annual South Boston Speedway Fireworks Extravaganza will be held and will once again light up the skies over the four-tenths mile asphalt oval with the best fireworks display in the area.
Three-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion Philip Morris, already an 11-time winner at America's Hometown Track in 2011, will head into the July 1 event on the heels of a pair of wins last week. Morris sits atop the track championship point standings and female competitor Natalie Sather is second, followed by two-time defending champion Justin Johnson in third and Josh Oakley in fourth.
Danny Willis Jr. will carry a slim two-point lead over Brian Pembelton into the 100-lap Limited Sportsman Division race. Justin Snow, who picked up a win last week, is third in the chase for the division crown.
In the Pure Stock ranks, Trey Crews is the leader in the chase for the title over Randy Hupp, while Joe Allred is third and is just nine points behind Hupp.
Advance tickets are priced at $15 each and can be purchased until 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. Tickets at the gate on race day will be priced at $20 each. Tickets for youth ages 7-12 are priced at $10 each. Kids ages six and under will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Pit registration will begin at 11:00 a.m. on July 1. Practice for all divisions will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 4:00 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 3:30 p.m. A special fan appreciation will be held trackside from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
