The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modifieds are slated to race Saturday night at the famed South Boston Speedway

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — America's Hometown Track will host two 150-lap races Saturday, featuring the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. The first of the two 150-lap shootouts is set to get the green flag at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Prior to the racing action Saturday, fans will have a chance to go trackside for a special fan appreciation session where they will have the opportunity to meet Burt and Jason Myers, Tim Brown, and Chase Elliott along with the rest of the stars in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.

The appearance by the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will be the fifth straight year the competitors have battled it out at America's Hometown Track and it will be the second event of the 2011 campaign for the series.

In season-opening action Brett Moffitt, the youngest driver to win a NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race, which he accomplished at South Boston Speedway with his 2009 win, led flag-to-flag to score a victory at Greenville Pickens (S.C.) Speedway. Last year rookie Max Gresham had his first career pole and win here at South Boston Speedway.

This weekend's stop at South Boston Speedway will be the third event of the campaign for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour and it will also be the third straight year the touring series has competed on the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval.

George Brunnhoelzl III, the 2009 series champion, has scored wins in each of the first two events of the campaign.

Advance adult tickets are on sale for $15 up until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 15. Adult general admission tickets at the gate will be $20. Tickets for youth ages 7-12 are priced at $10 each. Kids ages 6 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.

The competitors in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Series will begin arriving at South Boston Speedway on Friday and practice for the two series will get underway Saturday at 11:15 a.m.

Grandstand gates will open Saturday at 3 p.m. Qualifying for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will begin at 3:45 p.m. Qualifying for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Rain date is set for Sunday, April 17.
