South Boston SpeedwayGreen flag will wave again at South Boston Speedway at 2 p.m. Saturday

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — When the green flag dropped to start the 2011 season at South Boston Speedway two weeks ago, the pit area was full of competitors.

Look for more of the same this weekend when America's Hometown Track returns to action with a special afternoon starting time of 2 p.m. for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing program.

Six races are on tap Saturday afternoon with the featured attraction of the day being a 150-lap shootout for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

Also scheduled for action Saturday afternoon will be the Limited Sportsman Division. The drivers in the division will hit the four-tenths mile asphalt oval for twin races Saturday.

The Budweiser Pure Stock Division competitors will also be in action Saturday afternoon and there will be special events staged for the Legendary Flatheads and the IMCA Style Modifieds.

The 2011 season got off to a huge start on March 12 with 26 cars lining up for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. The Limited Sportsman Division event featured 16 competitors and 20 drivers lined up for the green flag at the start of the Budweiser Pure Stock Division clash.

Former South Boston Speedway and NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Peyton Sellers claimed a win in the season-opening NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division, while defending Limited Sportsman Division champion Justin Snow also posted a triumph. Bill Edwards was the winner of the initial Budweiser Pure Stock Division race of the campaign.

Pit registration will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. Practice for all divisions will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon and qualifying time trials will get underway at 12:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at noon and admission will once again be $10 for adults and children six and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.
