Friday is deadline to submit applications to be Miss South Boston Speedway 2011

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The 2011 racing season at America's Hometown Track is less than a month away and the deadline for persons to apply to be Miss South Boston Speedway 2011 is closer than that.

The highly anticipated 2011 racing campaign at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval will get cranked up on March 12. That will be the day that Miss South Boston Speedway 2011 will be announced.

The deadline to submit an application for Miss South Boston Speedway 2011 is Feb. 18, 2011. Miss South Boston Speedway applicants must be 18-years-old and must be able to attend all races on the 2011 schedule. Applicants are also required to submit a resume and photos for consideration.

The March 12 and March 26 events at South Boston Speedway will feature afternoon starts at 2 p.m. Then, it will be time to turn on the lights for NASCAR racing at night. The first night race of the season will be April 2. The night events at America's Hometown Track will get underway at 7 p.m.

Prior to the start of the 2011 campaign, South Boston Speedway will be hosting an open practice session on Saturday, March 5. Practice will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. The event is open to the public and no admission will be charged.

The 2011 schedule at South Boston Speedway includes 19 events and season tickets for all of the events are on sale and priced at just $150.

During the 2011 season, South Boston Speedway will, once again, host its annual Independence Day celebration on July 1. That event will feature a 200-lap Late Model Stock Car Division race, along with a 100-lap Limited Sportsman event, a 50-lap Pure Stock clash and the track's annual Fireworks Extravaganza.

Other special events on the 2011 South Boston Speedway schedule include two appearances by the touring PASS Super Late Models on May 7 and Aug. 20, an April 16 doubleheader featuring the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, and the USARacing Pro Cup Series will return on June 11.
