South Boston Speedway's 2011 racing season is just over one month away
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Believe it or not, the green flag will drop on the 2011 racing season at South Boston Speedway in just over one month.
Officials at America's Hometown Track are busy getting ready. Competitors are working feverishly to prepare their cars for the new season and fans are surely anxious to see the action again on the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval.
The 2011 season will get cranked up on March 12 and will continue through Oct. 22 when the NASCAR Whelen Late Model 300 will be staged at the facility. The 2011 schedule includes 19 events at the four-tenths mile asphalt oval and season tickets for all of the action-packed events are on sale and priced at just $150.
During the 2011 season, South Boston Speedway will, once again, host its annual Independence Day celebration on July 1. That event will feature a 200-lap Late Model Stock Car Division race, along with a 100-lap Limited Sportsman event, a 50-lap Pure Stock clash and the track's annual Fireworks Extravaganza.
Other special events on the 2011 South Boston Speedway schedule include two appearances by the touring PASS Super Late Models on May 7 and Aug. 20, an April 16 doubleheader featuring the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, and the USARacing Pro Cup Series will return on June 11.

South Boston Speedway officials are also currently accepting applications for Miss South Boston Speedway 2011.
Miss South Boston Speedway applicants must be 18-years-old and must be able to attend all races on the 2011 schedule. Applicants are also required to submit a resume and photos for consideration.
The deadline to submit an application for Miss South Boston Speedway 2011 is Feb. 18, 2011. Only serious applicants are asked to apply. Miss South Boston Speedway will be announced at the opening race of the 2011 season.
