SoBo unveils new look on Web site; Tickets remain for awards ceremony
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — A new year and a new look. South Boston Speedway officials have unveiled a new look on their website at www.southbostonspeedway.com.
All of the same information you have always enjoyed at the site still exists, along with some new added features. The site is up and ready to go in time for the start of the 2011 racing season, which will get underway on March 12.
Prior to the start of the new season, South Boston Speedway will honor the champions of the track's divisions Saturday night, Jan. 15 at the annual South Boston Speedway Awards Ceremony at The Prizery in South Boston.
Tickets for the event are still available and priced at $30. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the speedway office and include the social, Awards Ceremony, and Champion's reception. Mike Brooks will be on hand for entertainment during the Champion's reception.
Justin Johnson claimed a second straight title in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. Other division winners at America's Hometown Track in 2010 included Justin Snow in the Limited Sportsman Division, Jarrett Milam in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and Darryl Lacks in the Southern Vintage Modifieds.
Season tickets for the 2011 season also remain on sale at the speedway office and are good for every event from the opener on March 12 through the season-ending NASCAR Whelen Late Model 300 on Oct. 22. Season tickets are priced at $150.
Also scheduled during the upcoming season will be the speedway's annual Independence Day celebration on July 1. That event will feature a 200-lap Late Model Stock Car Division race, along with a 100-lap Limited Sportsman event, a 50-lap Pure Stock clash and the track's annual Fireworks Extravaganza.
Other special events on the 2011 South Boston Speedway schedule include two appearances by the touring PASS Super Late Models on May 7 and Aug. 20, an April 16 doubleheader featuring the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, and the USARacing Pro Cup Series will return on June 11.
