USARacing Pro Cup Series Championship event on Saturday will close out SoBo's 2010 season
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway will close out its 2010 season of racing Saturday when the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval will host the USARacing Pro Cup Series Championship 300 presented by Strutmasters.com.
The green flag for the season finale for both South Boston Speedway and the USARacing Pro Cup Series, formerly known as the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Discounted tickets are still available for the USARacing Pro Cup Series Championship 300 presented by Strutmasters.com and are priced at $10 for adults. The adult ticket price on race day will be $15. Discounted tickets are available through Friday afternoon until 5 p.m.
Grandstand gates will open Saturday at 11 a.m. and qualifying time trials for the 300-lap race will begin at noon.
There will also be an on-track autograph session prior to the start of Saturday afternoon's race.
Clay Rogers will be seeking his second consecutive USARacing Pro Cup Series championship Saturday when the green flag falls at America's Hometown Track. Rogers enters the season finale with a 79-point lead in the series standings over Caleb Holman. Rogers is also coming off a victory at Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway last month.
In addition, Rogers will be competing on a track Saturday that he is familiar with and has been successful on. Rogers claimed a victory in June at South Boston Speedway when the USARacing Pro Cup Series visited for the first time this year.
In that event, Rogers led 118 of 250 laps and wound up finishing 2.708 seconds ahead of Roxboro, N.C. native Matt Lofton, who finished in second place.
Jeff Agnew enters Saturday's season finale in third place in the point standings. Agnew was the pole winner in the USARacing Pro Cup Series event at South Boston Speedway in June.
Others in the top five of the USARacing Pro Cup Series point standings include J.P. Morgan and A.J. Frank.
