Sunoco presents Anderson Lawn Care Night 150 slated Saturday night at SoBo

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — If anyone is going to catch Justin Johnson in the battle for the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division championship, they will likely need a good performance Saturday night to do so.

South Boston Speedway will return to action Saturday for the running of the Sunoco presents Anderson Lawn Care Night 150. The featured event of the six-event NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing program will be a 150-lap race for the drivers in the Late Model Stock Car Division. The first race of the night will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

Justin Johnson, the defending South Boston Speedway NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division champion, enters Saturday night's racing action with a 95 point lead over second-place Stacy Puryear.

Following Saturday night's racing action, the Late Model Stock Car Division competitors have only three other events remaining in the 2010 campaign. Twin 75-lap races are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 28, and the final NASCAR Whelen Late Model event of the season will be run on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Puryear is not the only driver within shouting distance of Johnson heading into the final events of the season. Deac McCaskill is third in the standings and is just 10 points behind Puryear. Lee Pulliam, who has won two of the last three Late Model Stock Car Division races is fourth and is only eight points behind McCaskill.

In addition to the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division race Saturday night, there will also be twin 50-lap races for the Limited Sportsman Division, along with a race for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and twin races for the Southern Vintage Modifieds.

Justin Snow is currently in first place in the Limited Sportsman Division standings, but owns only a four-point edge over second-place Tommy Peregoy. Following Saturday night's twin races, the Limited Sportsman Division competitors will have only one more event remaining in the 2010 title chase.

In the Budweiser Pure Stock Division, Jarrett Milam holds a nine-point lead over Joe Allred. Darryl Lacks is the points leader in the Southern Vintage Modified Division.

The rain date for Saturday night's racing action will be Sunday, Aug. 15.

Pit registration will begin at noon on Saturday. Practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:15 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for youths ages 7-12. Kids ages six and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
