Fireworks planned on and off the track on Friday, July 2 at South Boston Speedway
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway will host fireworks on the racetrack and off the asphalt Friday, July 2, when action returns to America's Hometown Track.
The special Friday night of racing will get cranked up at 7 p.m. and will feature exciting racing for three divisions. At the close of the racing action, the skies over South Boston Speedway will light up as the track hosts its annual Fireworks Extravaganza. The fireworks show is always one of the most impressive in the region.
The featured event of the night will be a 200-lap race for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division, which will feature the best of the best Late Model Stock Car competitors in the region. The winner of the prestigious race will pocket $5,000.
The Limited Sportsman Division will hit the four-tenths mile asphalt oval for a 100-lap event on July 2 and the Budweiser Pure Stock Division drivers will battle it out in a 50-lap race.
Prior to racing action on July 2, fans will be able to go trackside to meet and greet their favorite competitors during Fan Appreciation from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Practice for all divisions will be held on July 2 from 1:45 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get cranked up at 4:15 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 3:30 p.m.
Advance tickets for adults are available at a cost of $15. Discount tickets will be available through 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 1. Adult admission on the day of the race will be $20. Children, ages 7-12, will be admitted for $10, and children ages six and under, will be admitted free. Youth discounts are only valid if accompanied by a paying adult.
