Halifax County Business Appreciation Twin 75 scheduled Saturday, May 8, at South Boston Speedway
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Rain may have altered plans for racing action at South Boston Speedway this past weekend, but officials at America's Hometown Track are gearing up to return to action on Saturday, May 8, for the running of the Halifax County Business Appreciation Twin 75 program.
In honor of Mother's Day all moms will also be honored at South Boston Speedway on Saturday, May 8, and will be admitted for the reduced admission price of $5.
Highlighting the five-event program on Saturday, May 8, will be twin 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.
Also scheduled for action on May 8 will be the drivers in the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the touring Legendary Flathead Series.
Justin Johnson will enter the May 8 twin races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division as the man to beat in the chase for the 2010 championship. Johnson has won three of the first four races of the campaign and leads Deac McCaskill by 31 points in the chase for the 2010 crown. Stacy Puryear is third in the standings, just two points ahead of fourth-place Nick Smith.
Tommy Peregoy leads Justin Snow by three points in the Limited Sportsman Division standings, while Randy Hupp is the Budweiser Pure Stock Division points leader by 13 over Joe Allred and 15 over Daniel Crews.
Tickets purchased at the rain-cancelled April 24 event at South Boston Speedway will be honored at the May 8 event.
Pit registration will begin at noon on Saturday, May 8. Practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:15 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Adult admission is $10. Children, ages 7-12, admitted for $5 and children six and under admitted free with a paying adult.
