Rolling Thunder Modifieds will appear at SoBo with USARacing Pro Cup Series on August 8

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway officials announced today that the much-anticipated appearance by the Rolling Thunder Modified Series at America's Hometown Track will move from its original scheduled date of May 30 to Aug. 8.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, the Rolling Thunder Modified Series will compete in a 75-lap race. The USARacing Pro Cup Series (formally known Hooters Pro Cup) will also hit the four-tenths mile asphalt oval that evening for a 250-lap showdown.

Originally, the Rolling Thunder Modified Series was scheduled to run on Saturday, May 30 when the NASCAR Camping World Series and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Cars are also slated to compete.

"After talking with all parties involved, the decision was made to move the Rolling Thunder Modified Series race to Aug. 8," South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said. "It was a much better fit for everyone.

"We are extremely excited to have the Rolling Thunder Modified Series at South Boston this year," Rice added. "And, we know our great race fans are also looking forward to the event."

The next racing action at South Boston Speedway will be the Mom's Night 150, slated for Saturday, May 9. The first of five races will get underway that night at 7 p.m.

Headlining the event will be twin 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car Division. Other races slated for May 9 include events for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the touring Allison Legacy Series.

In honor of Mother's Day on Sunday, May 10, all mothers will be admitted to the May 9, Mom's Night 150 for the reduced admission price of $5.

Pit gates will open May 9 at 12:45 p.m. Practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:15 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults. Youth, ages 7-12, will be admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult and children, ages six and under, are admitted free with a paid adult.
