Season tickets for South Boston Speedway's 20-race schedule in 2009 on sale for $175
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The 2009 racing season at South Boston Speedway will be even more exciting with the announcement from USARacing last week that two events will be run this year at the historical four-tenths mile asphalt oval.
USARacing, formerly known as the Hooters Pro Cup Series, announced that it would stage races at America's Hometown Track on Aug. 8 and also on Oct. 31. The second event will be the final of four in the USARacing's championship series.
The addition of the two events pushes South Boston's 2008 race schedule to 20 events in 2009.
"I am extremely excited to have USARacing with two events at South Boston Speedway this year," South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said. "Having the championship race here in October is especially exciting for all of us. This is something we have wanted for a long time, especially for our great fan base."
Season tickets good for all 20 events at South Boston Speedway this season are currently on sale and priced at just $175. That's less than $10 per event to see all the great racing action during South Boston Speedway's 52nd season.
And, the 2009 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series schedule at South Boston Speedway will get cranked up next month. The first race of the campaign is scheduled for Saturday, March 14. That event and the second race of the season, set for Saturday, March 21, will have afternoon starting times before the action reverts to under the lights with evening starts in April.
In addition to NASCAR Whelen All American Series events for the Late Model Stock Car Division, the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Southern Vintage Modified Division, and the two USARacing events slated this year a host of other special events are also planned in 2009.
South Boston Speedway will host the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modifieds on April 4. The NASCAR Camping World Series will make a return trip to America's Hometown Track on May 30, and the Bailey's 200, along with the annual Fireworks Extravaganza, will be held on July 3. Rounding out the 2009 season will be the Mason Dixon 500, which will once again feature 250 laps of action for the NASCAR Late Model Stock Cars and 250 laps of action for the PASS Super Late Models.
