SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway's top performers in the 2008 racing season will be honored Saturday night, Jan. 17, when America's Hometown Track hosts its annual Awards Ceremony.
South Boston Speedway's Awards Ceremony will, once again, be held at The Prizery in South Boston. The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the awards ceremony at 7 p.m. A Champions' Reception will be held at the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
Tickets for the event are still available and are priced at $30 each. Tickets can be obtained at the speedway office or by phoning 1-877-440-1540. Due to a limited amount of seating remaining, persons wishing to attend the banquet who have not yet purchased tickets are asked to do so as soon as possible.
The top honorees Saturday night include the champions in South Boston Speedway's elite divisions for the 2008 season.
Wayne Ramsey claimed the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division championship last season at the four-tenths mile asphalt oval, edging Justin Johnson in the final points tally.
In the Limited Sportsman Division, Lee Pulliam survived a season-long battle with two-time defending champion Bruce Anderson to emerge as the division champion by a mere seven points.
Joe Allred claimed the Budweiser Pure Stock Division championship, defeating Courtney Crosby by eight points and Darryl Lacks secured the Yellow Book USA Southern Vintage Modified championship by 11 points over Randy Smith.
Many other persons will be honored during the awards ceremony Saturday night as well.
