Ringgold resident Meagan Seay named 2009 Miss South Boston Speedway
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Meagan Seay of Ringgold, Va. has been named Miss South Boston Speedway 2009.
The 19-year-old Seay is a 2007 graduate of Dan River High School. She is currently taking online classes from the U.S. Career Institute and is majoring in animal care in hopes of becoming a veterinary assistant. She is currently employed at Victoria's Secrets and Tropical Rayz Tanning Salon.
Seay, who lists attending races at area racetracks among her hobbies, served as an Umbrella/Trophy Girl for the 2007 AMA Suzuki Super bike event at VIRginia International Raceway. She also served as an Umbrella Girl for Triangle Cycles in 2008.
"We are very happy to have Meagan with us this year serving as Miss South Boston Speedway," General Manager Cathy Rice said. "We had a lot of interest this year and I have to say that this year's decision was very difficult because of the vast amount of qualified and talented applicants we had."
The title of Miss South Boston Speedway is an honor each and every year. Every season the most talented short track competitors along the East Coast venture to the four-tenths mile asphalt oval. In addition, fans and media representatives also flock to the historical facility to witness the racing action.
"Serving as Miss South Boston Speedway is a challenging and rewarding responsibility," Rice said. "It definitely takes a huge commitment."
And, that is something Seay says she is ready for.
"I feel I am responsible, respectful and I love racing," Seay said. "I just love everything about racing from the cars, the fans, to the smell of the racing fuel, I just love being at the racetrack."
