Mothers admitted for $5 Saturday when South Boston Speedway hosts USG presents Little Caesar's Night
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Motorsports fans can celebrate Mother's Day one night early Saturday when South Boston Speedway hosts the USG presents Little Caesar's Night NASCAR Whelen All American Series race program.
Saturday's event is also being billed as Mom's Night Out. All mothers will be admitted for the discounted admission price of $5. A total of five races are scheduled Saturday night, with the first event of the evening set to get the green flag at 7 p.m.
Highlighting the USG presents Little Caesar's Night program will be a pair of 75-lap races for the competitors in the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division.
One-time winner Dude Gibbs is the current points leader in the Late Model Stock Car ranks. He has an 11-point edge over veteran driver Eddie Johnson, while one-time winner Justin Johnson sits in third place, just three points behind Eddie Johnson. Jonathan Bailey, Wayne Ramsey and Jason Dickerson are locked in a three-way tie for fourth place. The trio trails Justin Johnson by 13 points.
The Limited Sportsman Division drivers will take to the four-tenths mile asphalt oval for a 50-lap event Saturday night. Lee Pulliam, who owns one victory this season, is atop the standings by 12 points over one-time winner and two-time defending division champion Bruce Anderson. Brian Pembelton owns third place in the standings. He trails Anderson by 11 points and has a nine-point edge over Danny Willis Jr., who has posted one victory in 2008.
Also slated for action Saturday night will be the competitors in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division. Joey Conner, the winner of the season-opening race for the division, leads the points standings by seven points over Justin Tucker. Michael Jones is just two points behind Tucker and only two points ahead of fourth-place Quain Moore.
Rounding out Saturday night's racing action will be an event for the drivers in the touring Legendary Ford Flathead Series.
Pit gates will open May 10 at 1 p.m. with practice for all divisions beginning at 2:15 p.m. and continuing through 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get cranked up at 5:15 p.m.
Tickets are priced at $10 for adults. Youth, ages 7-12, will be admitted for $5 and children, ages 6 and under, will be admitted free. All youth must be accompanied by a paying adult to receive discounted admission.
