Italian Delight 150 Set Saturday At South Boston Speedway
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. - South Boston Speedway will close out what has been a busy month of July with Saturday night's running of the Italian Delight 150 racing program.
This Saturday's Italian Delight 150 racing program will include five events with the first race getting the green flag at 7 p.m. In addition to a 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division, there will be races for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division, the Grand Stock Division and the INEX Legends Cars Series. Saturday's race-day schedule calls for registration to start and pit gates to open at 1 p.m. Practice will start at 2:15 p.m. and will continue until 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open and ticket sales will begin at 5 p.m.
Qualifying time trials will start at 5:15 p.m. and the first race of the night will get the green flag at 7 p.m. South Boston Speedway's Early Bird Special will be in effect with adult general admission tickets being $8 until 6:30 p.m. and $10 after that. Youths ages 10-15 will be admitted for $5 and kids ages nine and under will b admitted free with a paid adult.
Adam Barker of Hurt, Va., who has won eight of the 11 races run in the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division this season, will enter Saturday night's action as the division points leader. Barker was forced to retire early from last week's race due to mechanical problems and finished 10th in the race. However, he lost only 12 points of what was a large points lead and will enter this weekend's action with a 50-point edge over Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. Eddie Johnson of Midlothian, Va., who finished second last week, moved up to third place in the points standings but is 46 points down to Ramsey going into this weekend's race. Johnson's focus this week will be on trying to protect his spot in third place as he stands only six points ahead of David Triplett Jr. of Timberlake, N.C. and C.E. Falk III of Virginia Beach, Va. who are tied for fourth place in the standings.
Defending Limited Sportsman Division champion Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va. continues to hold the top spot in the Limited Sportsman Division points standings entering Saturday night's race for the Limited Sportsman Division competitors.
Anderson, who scored his ninth win of the season here last weekend, holds a hefty 42-point lead over Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs, Va. entering Saturday night's action. Brian Pembleton of Amelia, Va. is in third place in the points standings with Timmy Langford of Amelia, Va. and Wesley Falk of Virginia Beach, Va. rounding out the
Defending Budweiser Pure Stock Division champion, Chuck Watkins of Stem, N.C., enters Saturday night's Pure Stock Division event with a 20-point lead over William Ridgeway of Burlington, N.C. in what is the track's most competitive points chase.
Mark Francisco of Halifax, Va. is in third place, four points down to Ridgeway. Jarrett Milam of Ringgold, Va. is in fourth place, 20 points behind Francisco with Quain Moore of Callands, Va. rounding out the top five in the division standings.
